The latest product offering from [lifesteal] is a passion project inspired by fleeting moments from the distant past. Combining the timeless stylings of products such as the Game Boy Advance and iMac G3 with the reliable, robust hardware of the Akai MPC-2000 and MPC-2000XL creates a unique, nostalgic take on classic sampling.
By preserving the physical hardware and componentry of the original donor machines, we are able to shift our focus towards visual elements. Neon encasing highlights a transparent, fluorescent acrylic panel. UV lights installed provide a cozy arcade glow, with painted text allowing you to see the details of your machine in an all new light.
Vintage hardware is beautiful. But with modern design considerations and a suite of RGB and vibrantly designed alternatives to keep up with, it can start to look a bit stale in contrast.
LIFESTEAL devices are thoroughly cleaned and repaired before modification. This extensive process allows us to provide you with a unique and modern take on classic hardware.
By combining a new front panel, LCD display, pads, and buttons as standard, we ensure a new life is given to each synthesiser or sampler restored by staff at LIFESTEAL.
LIFESTEAL is currently still in the works as far as products are concerned. I aim to launch a line of machines in mid 2022. Due to the nature of the vintage/discontinued machines I will be working on, each machine may be fitted with additional upgrades such as 8 para outs, however it is difficult to say with certainty what can be consistently provided.
Across the board you can expect an upgraded neon acrylic panel 20x stronger than glass, interior UV lighting, new buttons/switches for all controls, thoroughly cleaned internals, and a new LCD display. These machines will be distributed from Australia and are anticipated to be priced at around $3500 AUD for a modified MPC-2000, and roughly $4500 AUD for a modified MPC-2000XL.
